Office: One Room Challenge Week 5

It’s week 5 and we have an awesome update for you! We’ll keep this short and sweet. The library unit has been primed and painted as part of office/gym makeover.

Progression: Week 1 | Week 2 | Week 3 | Week 4 | Week 5 | Week 6

If you came here from the ORC site, hello! I’m Sanju Patel. By day, I work behind a desk, typically crunching numbers. By night, you can find me in a garage. My wife and I purchased a home in Texas 3 years ago – a quick close without costly bells and whistles. As lifelong fans of DIY, we’ve decided to invest into our home as our family grows with an open invitation to see our process from start to finish.

To divide and conquer, we amped up the speed and contracted paint services. Originally considered rolling on the primer and paint, but so glad we found a local contractor to spray on for a smooth finish. The entire room was taped off. We eventually landed on SW Extra White – a neutral color because well…we couldn’t decide on the right paint color :). We have a few more modifications left like adding an extra shelf.

The unit will be complemented by 2 mango wood side tables – the perfect fit. What do you think we should do with this open space? Planters, nice painting or frame, wall treatment? So many possibilities.

We’re on the hunt for an office table, build out a pegboard, add beams. Let’s get to it!

As always, send us any questions and don’t forget to follow our Instagram stories. By the way, there are SUPERB featured designers participating in the One Room Challenge with Better Homes and Gardens as a media partner. These artists totally rock and will not disappoint. Check it out!

  1. Amazing built-in. If you can do this, you can do anything! Have been looking for WFH ideas. Can’t wait to see the final product.
