My wife and I purchased a home in Texas 3 years ago \u2013 a quick close without costly bells and whistles. As lifelong fans of DIY, we\u2019ve decided to invest into our home as our family grows with an open invitation to see our process from start to finish.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n With the frame constructed, we’re now able to attach sheets of our ‘blondewood’ plywood and hide the 2×4’s (a few more were added for extra support). How clean does this look?<\/p>\n\n\n\n After having the SW Cloverfields up for a week, decided to switch things up with an alternative, lighter color. Too baby bluish? Ya, we think so too. Not sure how we’ll handle the color choice. In the meantime, electrical was fed prior to patch up with more trim.<\/p>\n\n\n\n For any of the trim facing outward, we discovered primed trim board made from pine (finger-joined). It saved us a bunch of time. All we had to do was cut it to size and affix it in front of the framing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n With yet another stop at Home Depot (hehe), picked up a few pieces of solid pine wall\/cabinet trim moulding. Added some quarter rounds to the edges and called it a day (took us almost an entire day to cut and pin the trim). The original baseboards were added back to match the style of our room.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Our house features existing cabinets with detail work where the edges have been routed out. We plan to find a similar bit head and determine if we can match. Got any ideas?
