Built mostly from framing lumber and simple tools, it\u2019s a sturdy weekend project that can be modified to fit almost any space.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Materials<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2013 (3) 2x4x8 studs<br>\u2013 (1) 4x4x8 post<br>\u2013 (8) 1x2x8 pine strips<br>\u2013 2\u201d #10 exterior screws<br>\u2013 1-1\/2\u201d brad nails or stainless finish nails<br>\u2013 Optional: wood glue<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Tools<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2013 Drill<br>\u2013 Miter saw<br>\u2013 Table saw<br>\u2013 Chisel<br>\u2013 Brad nailer<br>\u2013 Optional: Kreg Jig<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Steps<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Cut two 2x4s down to 88\u201d.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cut three 11\u201d support pieces from the remaining 2\u00d74.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cut four 18\u201d legs from the 4\u00d74.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Trace the 2\u00d74 profile onto the top of each 4\u00d74 leg.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Use a table saw and chisel to notch the legs so the bench frame nests into them.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Attach the legs to the long 2\u00d74 rails using screws or pocket holes.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Connect the frame using the 11\u201d support pieces.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Sand, stain, or paint the base before attaching the top.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Attach the 1\u00d72 top slats evenly across the bench using brad nails or screws.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Fill holes, sand lightly, and finish as desired.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Notes<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Adding a center rear leg helps with long-term support.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Pocket holes create a cleaner look, but direct
